National Day Against Police Brutality

ndapb final.jpg

Please join us on Sunday, 10/22 at 2pm in recognition of National Day Against Police Brutality. We'll be holding space for a movie viewing, conversation, and remembering those who've been taken by police violence. The event will be held at the Tacoma Community College at 6501 S. 19th St., Tacoma, WA 98466 in Building 17.

We'll be watching "Elementary Genocide", a documentary directed by Rahiem Shabazz, which examines the school-to-prison pipeline and the larger sociocultural structures that hold up systematic criminalization of and violence towards Black people. After the film, we'll have a conversation to share ideas about how we can disrupt anti-Black systems in our everyday lives and how to build towards communities that are free and just for all people.

To close, we'll hold a space of remembrance for those who have been taken by police brutality and systems of violence. You are welcome to bring something to add to our community altar, a snack (for yourself or to share), and your family/friends/folks.

The event is free and open to all. Kids are welcome, as we'll be hosting a play/craft station for younger children, youth, and adults. Hope to see you there!  For more information or to RSVP for the event, follow the link here
